There’s more than jewelry and paintings at the Cain Park Arts Festival in July. There’s football! Or at least the chance to win 50-yard line tickets to the Ohio State v. U of Maryland game on October 7, 2023. For the second year in a row, Friends of Cain Park is raffling off two primo seats for Ohio State football fans. And take it from last year’s winner, you just never know.
When Andrea Turner bought a raffle ticket summer 2022 to support the Friends of Cain Park fundraiser, she never imagined she’d win. “I’m not much of a gambler,” Turner said, “but I thought, why not?” If she won the two tickets to the Rutgers game she could enjoy a Saturday afternoon with her daughter, a sophomore (and 100,000 other fans) on homecoming weekend.
“I hadn’t been back to the Cain Park Arts Festival in years and appreciated it was free to attend.” When Turner visited the Friends of Cain Park booth she said she “was intrigued and impressed by the wonderful raffle items and then the Ohio State logo caught my attention.” Turner knew her daughter had planned on attending football games in the Fall and thought it would be terrific to join her. “I was thrilled when I got the phone call that I won,” she added.
She was also moved by the story of how the tickets were donated. Friends Board Member and long-time OSU Football fan Judy Heyer has been a season ticket holder since she graduated from Ohio State sixty-six years ago. “When I talked to Judy on the phone about getting the tickets she was so delightful. She made it easy and I was so impressed by her loyalty to Ohio State football. She mentioned she donates tickets every year to a different non-profi to help them fundraise.”
“I definitely encourage people to support Cain Park and the Friends of Cain Park. It is such a gem in our community and we are so lucky to have such great concerts so close to home,” Turner said. The extended season and preferential tickets for members of Friends of Cain Park also makes supporting the Friends of Cain Park worthwile.
“I appreciate the volunteers and the people who run the park and the Friends of Cain park and all that they do,” she said, “and maybe you’ll see me behind their booth this year.” We’d love to have you Andrea!
